Septic Tank Pumping and Septic Service for Volente Properties

Volente is a small village on the north shore of Lake Travis, between the lake and the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve. It had 561 people at the 2020 Census, and the Census Bureau estimates 521 for 2025. The village's guide for residents says its existing homes have septic systems and that the village provides no wastewater service. The lots are steep, and bedrock sits close to the surface.

Septic tank pumping in Volente is the main work we do here, on conventional and aerobic tanks alike. Bravo Septic is based in Leander, and we come over by North Lakeline Boulevard and Lime Creek Road. We also run septic inspections, make repairs, fit risers and secure lids and take emergency calls. Who permits septic systems in Volente?

The Lower Colorado River Authority does. TCEQ's list of authorized agents names the Village of Volente under LCRA. The village's own guide says it relies on LCRA to inspect and permit septic systems.

LCRA's reach runs past the village line too. Since September 1971 it has regulated septic systems in a 2,000 foot zone around Lake Travis. Farther from the water, unincorporated Travis County has its own permitting agent. Jurisdiction follows the address, and when a permit is needed, we handle the paperwork with you.

Building a house in Volente runs through the village as well. Its guide says a new home needs a site development permit and a building permit. A home on septic also needs proof of an LCRA septic permit application.

State rules require owners to use a transporter registered with TCEQ to haul what comes out of a tank. Bravo Septic is a TCEQ-registered sludge transporter.

Selling a house in Volente with a septic system

When a Volente home changes hands, LCRA has a process called approval for continued use. It starts with a reinspection application that includes a copy of the MLS listing and a floor plan. LCRA says processing may take up to three business days.

The property has to be prepared to LCRA's checklist before the reinspection is requested. An approval is valid for six months, so a sale after that needs a new application, fee and inspection. Once the system passes, the new owner signs and returns LCRA's continued use form.

A system that fails needs work first. LCRA's page says to have a licensed installer make corrections, or to apply for a new system permit. That is why a real estate septic inspection belongs early in the option period.

We inspect with the tank pumped and pull the permit record, which for a Volente address sits with LCRA. If nobody knows where the lids are, septic tank locating comes first. After the inspection, we go over the findings with the buyer, seller or agent.

Shallow rock, steep lots and aerobic tanks in Volente

The USDA soil survey maps the middle of the village as Brackett, rock outcrop and Real soils. Slopes there run 8 to 30 percent, and about a quarter of that ground is bare rock. The survey rates it very limited for a septic drainfield, with bedrock about 14 inches down.

Half a mile south, toward the lake, the map shows Eckrant very stony clay over rock about 8 inches down. Southeast of the middle of the village, the slopes run 18 to 50 percent. Half a mile west, the survey point is already in the lake.

The permit record follows the ground. In 2025, LCRA authorized 124 new septic systems in its Travis County zones. Of those, 78 were drip systems and 18 were spray systems. One was a standard trench or bed.

Spray and drip systems typically need advanced treatment ahead of the field, such as an aerobic treatment unit. An aerobic system has more compartments than a conventional tank, and we pump every one. A licensed maintenance provider handles the required maintenance on aerobic units.

Older lake houses and septic tank pumping in Volente

Volente incorporated as a village in February 2003, but the lake community is much older. By 1959 it already had a marina and about 250 residents, according to the village's history. About half the homes in the village were built before 1995.

On an older system, the lids may be buried with no marker. We start at the sewer cleanout and probe from there. We also pull the permit record, which often includes a site drawing.

A septic tank pumping visit empties every compartment and cleans the effluent filter if the tank has one. With the tank open, we check the baffles, inlet and outlet. You get photos of the inside and a plain report on when the next pump-out is due. The full list is on our septic tank pumping page.

FM 2769 and Lime Creek Road are the village's two main roads, and both are two lanes. On a steep drive, the truck parks where it safely can and the suction hose runs to the tank. Sewage backing up into the house is an emergency septic service call. Urgent problems get priority, and nights and weekends we come when we can get there.

Called Bravo Septic to pump our tank in Leander after about four years. Isaac gave me a firm price up front, showed up in the window he said, and had it done in under an hour. He popped the lids, showed me the sludge level, and told me I could probably go another three years before the next one. No upsell, no surprises on the invoice. Will be using them from here on out.

Our place in Jonestown is at the end of a long gravel drive and a couple of pumpers wouldn’t even come out. Bravo Septic had no problem getting the truck back there and pumped both compartments. Left the site cleaner than he found it and backfilled the lids properly. Great to find somebody who will actually service this area.

Septic backed up into the downstairs shower on a Saturday night. Bravo Septic answered the phone and had a truck at the house the next morning. Turned out the tank was way overdue. He pumped it, checked the outlet, and explained why it happened. Will use them again.

Very positive experience with Isaac. He arrived on time and quickly located the tanks that we weren’t exactly sure where they were. He took care of business and left us in better shape than he found us.

We needed our septic pumped and Isaac from Bravo Septic got the job done! He was on time, professional, and kind. Explained everything that would entail upfront, including the cost. He was respectful of our property, we really appreciate that. Will definitely use him again. And would recommend his services to family and friends.

My sister moved to Leander this week and I was helping her to find someone to have the septic tank pumped out. I called three places and Isaac was the first to answer his phone. Price was fair, job was thorough, timing was prompt, professional all around. Glad we found Bravo.

Volente FAQ

Questions From Volente Property Owners

A few of the questions we hear most around Volente. If yours is not here, call and ask.

Call (512) 887-4458

Is my Volente home on septic or sewer?
Most likely septic. The village's guide for residents says its existing homes have septic systems and that the village provides no wastewater service. If you are not sure where your tank is, we can locate it. Call (512) 887-4458 and tell us what you know about the lot.
What does septic tank pumping cost in Volente?
It depends on the tank and the lot, so we quote it before any work begins. Tank size and the number of compartments move the price, and aerobic systems have more compartments. Lid depth matters too, and so does how far the hose runs on a steep lot. Call (512) 887-4458 for a quote.
Do you pump aerobic systems in Volente?
Yes. We pump conventional and aerobic tanks, and every compartment gets emptied. Aerobic units need routine maintenance, and a licensed maintenance provider handles that. Installing or replacing an aerobic unit takes an installer licensed for non-standard systems. Call (512) 887-4458 to get your tank on the schedule.
What does LCRA need when a Volente home sells?
A reinspection and approval for continued use. The application includes a copy of the MLS listing and a floor plan, and approvals are valid for six months. An option-period septic inspection from us shows you the system's condition before LCRA's reinspection.
How often should a Volente septic tank be pumped?
TCEQ recommends pumping a conventional system every three to five years. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension warns that solids can enter the field when a tank is not pumped. After each pump-out, you get a plain report on when the next one is realistically due.
